St. Nicholas Church has been in the ownership of the Churches Conservation Trust (CTT) since 1975. Since then it has been largely unused apart from occasional exhibitions. Recently CTT has worked with Art Shape to look at new and sustainable uses for the church.
Proposed new uses include offices for Art Shape, space to accommodate their classes and the art materials essential to them, mini studios for emerging artists and a place to sell their craft, a café showcasing local foods and a more permanent gallery and exhibition space. Working together they hope to make the church once more a living building at the heart of its community.
