New art activities coming soon – in a box

Art Shape worked with local artists to produce art activities in a box. The box contains everything you would need to run a creative session for 8 people including a DVD in the Blue Peter ‘here’s one I prepared earlier’ format, printed instructions and all the materials required.

Art Shape have traditionally supplied Artists with the skills to teach art activities to care homes and family centres in Gloucestershire but without funding these sessions could be prohibitively expensive. The solution was to pay the artists once to film and write the instructions for the activity and then produce the boxes which can be posted out so that anyone, without any training, could run the sessions themselves. All Art-in-a-Boxes cost less than £20 including postage so they are ideal for activity coordinators in residential and care homes, youth club leaders, play scheme leaders even busy mums for children’s parties (supervision required and over 5yrs recommended).

You can see the boxes for sale on in the ‘educational resources’ section of Art shape’s online art gallery website www.allsquarearts.co.uk.

Coming soon: learn the techniques of ‘Collage’ and ‘Papier-mâché Frames’.

The Art in a Box logo was designed by Mike Carter, a volunteer and assistor at Art Shape and a former product design student.

The original project to create these boxes was funded by the Big Lottery. Every year BIG gives out millions of pounds from the National Lottery to good causes. Our money goes to community groups and to projects that improve health, education and the environment
